In a lot of my looks you will notice that I used the same line up of mattes: Orange Soda, followed by Burnt Orange, Sienna, and Cyprus Umber. On the eye, they do look different, although not by a whole lot. The only difference is that Fairy is a light gold, whereas Bronze is a more antique, deeper gold. On the other hand, Fairy and Bronze are more true metallics, that can be built up to be opaque. This shade is like a really gentle metallic, that is really subtle-y pretty. I mean, how different can they be? Glistening is actually more of a sparse peachy gold shimmer that works more as a topper. When first looking at the palette, I think some might be wondering about the three gold shades in the palette. I wouldn’t say that this impacted how they performed, but it was something that I noticed. However, I did find that two of the shades were definitely drier than the others, and those were Orange Soda and Mulberry. True to usual ABH style, I found that all of the shades were pigmented and very buildable. Noir: Ultra-matte deep carbon black” Pigmentation and Performance Sultry: A hybrid satin metallic finish warm chocolate brown Rose Pink: Rose gold with a soft pink iridescent hue Glistening: Iridescent gold with a hint of pink reflect With a long lasting formula, this palette is complete with bronze metallics and iridescent finishes ideal for a nighttime look and neutral mattes for daytime. “Featuring fourteen essential shades, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette is the perfect collection of easy-to-blend, full pigment shadows. Here are the claims from the ABH website: Check out my Wow! or Waste? of the ABH Spring Releases to see how this one compares. ABH eyeshadow palettes are notoriously high-priced for the amount of product that you get, and you can really see this when you compare to other eyeshadow palettes. This palette is priced at $55 CAD ($42 USD) and has 0.28 oz of product. This palette includes 14 shades, with 9 mattes and 5 metallics/shimmer toppers. Seems like it would be common, but most palettes are either all browns, or all pinks, and not a mixture of both. I think the fact that this neutral palette includes both browns and roses makes it more unique. Some palettes are just hard to figure out, but this one is very easy, with its warm neutral and cool neutral shades. Inside, the shades are truly beautiful, and the eye can instantly put together looks. Eyeshadow is a messy business, so being able to clean the packaging is a must, in my opinion. The picture below is it in its pristine state, but if you were to look at mine now, it has deep shadow stains over at least 1/4 of it. But what makes it worse is that I have already stained the outside of this palette so much, and I’ve only been using it for two weeks. This light shade of mustardy yellow is just not attractive, and does not remind me of “soft glam”. I have never hated the soft velvet packaging more than now. One thing that is not beautiful in my opinion, is the packaging. It was leaked in January, which left us waiting such a long time for it to release! Oh well, it’s here now, and it is beautiful! Packaging and First Impressions Something that was really too bad though was how early it was leaked. Additionally, as hard as it may be to believe, I don’t really have a neutral go-to palette in my collection that includes mattes and shimmers. But there’s just something about the ABH formula that makes me lose all of my inhibitions. Now this was a strange reaction for me, because usually when neutral palettes are released, I couldn’t roll my eyes harder. When this was first released, I knew that I was going to get it. Today I bring you the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette. Now that the semester is finishing up I am doing a lot of marking, but soon that will be over and I will be able to focus on more important things, like my masters thesis, and makeup. Lately, things have been so busy, and I am forever feeling behind.
